Experimental  Page sharing sonar records from Castle Cruises tour boat "MV Morag mo Chridhe" made using a Lowrance StructureScan HDS sounder. The machine is used and digital records made on all trips when I am the skipper.

You will need to download the SonarViewer software from
http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Support/Sonar-Log-Viewer/
or, if that doesn't work on your p.c.,   google "Lowrance Sonar" and search their "Downloads" section for "SonarViewer_2.1.2.exe"

about 10 MB.

And then download any .sl2  files I have uploaded to this page, and open them with the Sonar-Log-Viewer.
There is a learning curve involved. Ultimately, you may be able to compare records of the same location from different times and look for differences!

Bug discovered!

File type .sl2 appear difficult to download.

Temporary fix:

I have renamed the test files as .doc files.  Try downloading the sonarxxxx.doc files listed below and after downloading them rename each file from "sonarxxxx.doc" to  "sonarxxxx.sl2" in your downloads folder.  You may get a message saying that you computer has blocked this file as it has come from another computer; so select "unblock".

They should then open with the Sonar Viewer.

Hints:

Under Window, select "Tile vertical".

If you pause the record and mouse over any object on the trace, you will see a box of data including lat & long. If you copy that in to GoogleEarth, you will see exactly where the sounding was recorded.

As a matter of interest, the 0194  record consists of 1911 separate soundings; Murray and Pullar's entire Bathymetrical Survey of Loch Ness comprised 1700 soundings.
